Deborah has also trained different organisations and people in understanding the media and journalism helping them to think about their work more creatively and express it in different formats.

She has helped people to communicate more effectively; shown them how the media works; and helped them to understand how to achieve a greater impact.

Deborah has also taught doctors, academics and policymakers about how to write and get published. She has mentored journalists and helped scriptwriters with understanding aspects of health care (see Video: Holding pharmaceutical companies and regulatory bodies to account). Having been described as the go to person for investigative science journalism, she has also trained general reporters in the principles of good health journalism  – including how to fairly and accurately report research – and consulted internationally on documentaries and investigations.
